A collection of stories about the quiet tension between tradition and individuality — restraint and rebellion, told through the women and men who live it.
White Linen, Red Dot is built from years of listening — real conversations with women and men, turned into stories about identity and self-discovery. The title holds the book's central image: white linen for restraint, a red dot for rebellion. Rather than framing its characters as victims looking for sympathy, the book centers moments of self-awareness — people finding an inner strength and finally saying what they'd spent years holding back.
As Dipali puts it: "good girls don't talk but good girls don't make history either."
A theatrical adaptation of the book premiered at the SAATH Theater Festival (Off-Kendrik) at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, MA, November 21–23, 2025.
